La familia vuelve a Madrid. Martiarena le recomienda trabajar con el maestro Daniel Vázquez Díaz, quien le aceptará como discípulo después de ver sus cuadros. Al ofrecer sus cuadrod a pesetas vende todo a través de los amigos de Vázquez Díaz. El maestro compra una vista de Toledo. Conoce y trata al crítico de arte Manolo Conde.
